addition to one-family house (design proposal)

The clients are a young couple of fashion designers with a small, growing family. Their need of additional space, the desire for an improved image and presentation of the house towards the street and a limited budget were the basic requirements for this project. The idea of wrapping portions of the existing structure with a perforated metal screen that sometimes encloses the tall bamboo plants produces a hybrid image where the boundary between old and new, artificial and natural are somehow blurred.
