Paola Giaconia graduated with honors in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy. Recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, she received her Master’s Degree in Architecture from SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) in Los Angeles, where she then worked for Morphosis (Thom Mayne).

Her professional training as a designer in important architectural offices in Italy and in the USA is at the basis of her current activity, which is highly appreciated by her clients and partners. She is partner at Image, a consultancy that unites editorial work, independent research, creative thinking and communication in the field of architecture, based in Florence, Italy. She is director of the Image MEDIA AGENCY, a vibrant and proactive international press office specialized in the field of architecture.

Paola couples her activity as a designer with scholarly research.

She is adjunct professor and coordinator for the architecture program at California State University and at Kent State University, Florence programs. She has been lecturing on contemporary architecture and participating at round tables at various cultural institutions and schools of architecture.

She contributes to the most important international architectural magazines. Her articles and essays have been published in "Abitare", "L'architettura. Cronache e Storia", "ARCH'IT", "De Architect", "Domus", "Hinge", "Ottagono", "PERSPECTIVE" and "Rassegna".

She is author of Los Angeles. Città unica (2001) and is co-editor, with Marco Brizzi, of the catalogues of the last three editions of the BEYOND MEDIA festival (INTIMACY, SCRIPT and VISIONS). Since 2003, she has been curating the SPOT ON SCHOOLS exhibition, today in its fourth edition. Her monograph on Eric Owen Moss (Eric Owen Moss. The Uncertainty of Doing) was published by Skira in 2006.

Her project for the Cultural Center in Ranica (Bergamo, Italy) is shortlisted for the Gold Medal to Italian Architecture in 2012.

She is a licensed architect in Italy since 1997 (Ordine Architetti di Monza).
